SEO to become a Trademark

Filed Under (Blogging, SEO) by Zacky on 17-04-2008

The online community has been in an uproar since the news that someone is in the process of obtaining a trademark for the term “SEO.”

Watch the video below.

Can you imagine what this will do to all of us in the online community? Why would anyone wants to buy the trademark for the term SEO? I thought this is an open community and everybody online have the right to everything. This guy must be another jerk who just wants to monopolize the search engine optimization market.

feel free to comment what you think about all this.

5 Great Ways To Get Repeat Traffic To Your Site

Filed Under (Blogging, Traffic Generation) by Zacky on 15-04-2008

Same theory about selling, it’s always easy to sell to the customers that have already bought something from you before, it also applies to the way we are getting traffic.

Here are a few great ways to get repeat traffic to your blog or website.

1. Update the pages and content on your website frequently. Stagnant sites are dropped by some search engines. One way is to put a date counter on the page to show when it was last updated.

2. Allow customers to ‘opt in’ to get discounts and special offers. You can place a link on your site to invite customers to ‘opt in’ to get a monthly newsletter and updates or valuable coupons.

3. Add a ‘Book Mark or Add this site to your Favorites’ link to your primary page with a script

4. Add a link ‘Recommend this site to a Friend’ so that the visitor can email your website link, with a pre-written title, “Thought you might be interested in this”, just by clicking on it.

5. Make sure that each page on your website has appropriate titles and keywords so that your customer can find their way back to your site if they happen to lose the book mark.

Feel free to add more ways in the comment. It will be greatly appreciated.

Google on Steroid

Filed Under (Blogging, Internet Marketing, Page Rank, SEO, Social Networking, backlinks) by Zacky on 09-04-2008

Is it just me or Goggle is now on steroid? As a professional full time online marketer, we have to keep up and know what is going around Google. Well, if not much, at least we still need to know what is Google up to. As much as I try not to bother with the mumbo jumbo page ranking stuffs because Goggle has drove a lot of marketers crazy and I don’t want to end up  crazy like the rest.

I’ve had most of my targeted keyword on top ranking and like any professional marketers, I do keep track and monitor those keywords on daily basis. For years now, they’ve move up and down but most don’t leave the first or the second page.

But lately, I see a lot of new links jumping up the list. Links you have never seen or heard of jumping and taking the top position. It’s moving up and down like index on stock exchange, much to my comfort. Even six or nine months ago, it seems to be more stable than now.

Micsonception about blogging

Filed Under (Blogging, Make Money, SEO) by Zacky on 07-04-2008

As blogging getting more popular for making money on the internet, more and more bloggers are putting in the same concept of making money online - Optimize keyword for their post and making it search engine friendly and get carried away by it.

I am not sure if this is a good idea because one thing for sure about blogging is, we are writing for other people to read and not solely for search engine to read.

This will affect the way we write and tell me if I am wrong, will you write the same way if you are writing for people and if you are writing for search engine?

Wordpress or Blogspot?

Filed Under (Blogging, Make Money) by Zacky on 04-04-2008

Wordpress and blogspot is the two main blog platform that many bloggers use. As for me, I am using wordpress. Not that I have anything against blogspot. It just that I feel there’s many limitation and disadvantage if you are a serious blogger and using blogspot. So what is your choice of using?

One of the reason that I choose wordpress against blogspot is the choice of templates available. With wordpress, you have the choice to maybe thousands of templates and there are support available from the wordpress community if you are having any problem with your template.
